Role Museum Volunteer (Various Roles Available)
Description Henfield Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support us across a wide variety of community, heritage, and educational activities. Roles include serving as a reserve visitor host during opening hours, delivering school outreach programs, distributing promotional leaflets, or joining our Friends of Henfield Museum committee.
Time Commitment Flexible. Visitor hosting begins as a reserve role with the opportunity to progress to a regular 2-hour monthly slot. Other project-based roles vary depending on your availability.
Location Henfield Museum, with some local community outreach across Henfield, Twineham, and Albourne.
Skills and Experience No specific museum experience is required. We welcome individuals who are friendly, reliable, and passionate about local history, community engagement, education, research, or digital media.

Further Information Volunteers can get involved in several specific heritage and digital initiatives, including:
  • School Outreach: Collaborating with schools in Henfield, Twineham, and Albourne to offer guided historical walks and local history talks.
  • Community Research: Conducting online and in-person survey questionnaires to help us understand local visiting habits.
  • Oral History: Interviewing local residents and transcribing recordings to preserve our community's voice.
  • Transcription & Landscape Projects: Transcribing the historical letters of William Borrer or engaging with the Arborea tree/landscape projects.
  • Promotion & Digital Media: Managing info board placements around the village, distributing leaflets, and creating social media content for our website, Facebook, and Twitter.
