| Description |
Sustainable Henfield SH2030 is a community-led group working to make our village a greener, low-carbon, and more biodiverse place to live. We are looking for hands-on help across several active local projects:
• Community Orchard Assistant: Care for our young fruit trees just north of Henfield Common (pruning, weeding, and maintaining deer guards). • Biodiversity Team: Plant bulbs, sow native wildflower seeds, and establish wild spaces throughout the village to boost local pollinator corridors. • Bike Bus Marshall: Help ensure local children can cycle to school safely by volunteering to marshal our community-run "Bike Bus" rides. • Social Media Creator: Help us ramp up our online presence by sharing local sustainability tips, highlighting eco-events, and managing our digital communications. |
| Time Commitment | Highly flexible. The Orchard role requires as little as 1–2 hours a month. Active campaigns, marshaling, and planting events are scheduled periodically to suit your availability. |
| Location | Various locations across Henfield (including the Community Orchard, local school routes, and village green spaces). Media and writing work can be completed from home. |
| Skills and Experience | No specialist skills are required. We offer full training for practical tasks like fruit tree pruning. If you have a specific eco-friendly passion, project idea, or specialty you would like to pitch to us, we would love to support you in launching it! |
| Age Restrictions | Over 18s only (or under 18s accompanied by a guardian for outdoor events) |
